Częstochowa TSKŻ Celebrates Channukah

Members of the Częstochowa TSKŻ and their guests gathered together in the conference hall of the Jewish Museum of Częstochowa, at ulica Katedralna 8, to celebrate the first night of Channukah and the lighting of the first candle.

Częstochowa TSKŻ Chairperson Izabela Sobańska-Klekowska welcomed special guests at the event, including Deputy Mayor of Częstochowa Ryszard Stefaniak, Municipal Museum Director Tadeusz Piersiak and City Councillor Jolanta Urbanska.

Patricia Zibart-Shifka sang Channukah songs, while the children enjoyed activities associated with the holiday and the guests enjoyed the holiday’s traditional refreshments.

The Jewish Cemetery Today

The Częstochowa Jewish Cemetery dates back to the late 18th Century. It is the third largest Jewish cemetery in Poland, containing around 4,500 graves in about 8.5 hectares. The last burial here took place in 1973.
