Częstochowa TSKŻ Honoured by the City

The City of Częstochowa has honoured the Częstochowa Branch of the TSKŻ with an award entitled Tym Co Sluza Miastu i Ojczyznie (for Service to the City and the Homeland).

The statuette and certificate were presented by the Mayor of Częstochowa, Krzysztof Matyjaszczyk, in a ceremony held on 10th November 2018 at the Częstochowa Philharmonic, fittingly, on the site where our New Synagogue once stood.

The Jewish Cemetery Today

The Częstochowa Jewish Cemetery dates back to the late 18th Century. It is the third largest Jewish cemetery in Poland, containing around 4,500 graves in about 8.5 hectares. The last burial here took place in 1973.
