Opening of the Jewish Museum of Częstochowa

Tuesday, 20th September 2016

The opening of the Jewish Museum of Częstochowa has been a dream come true – a permanent home for our exhibition, “The Jews of Częstochowa”.

Thanks to the Mayor and City Council of Czestochowa, its home is in the beautifully restored building at ul. Katedralna 8 located in, what once was, the heart of the city’s Jewish area.

The Częstochowa Jewish Cemetery dates back to the late 18th Century. It is the third largest Jewish cemetery in Poland, containing around 4,500 graves in about 8.5 hectares. The last burial here took place in 1973.
